Hive Fleet Aurora is a deviant strain of Hive Fleet Leviathan, originating in the Aurora System. It is distinguished from the parent fleet by the anomalous golden chitinous plating.

During a warp storm in the Aurora System, Tyranid forces made landfall on the holdings of Rogue Trader Reine Andernacht. Afflicted by xenos psychic influence, Andernacht is believed to have conducted a ritual of profane nature - reportedly in an attempt to merge her consciousness with the Hive Mind, to achieve immortality. The outcome remains a matter of ongoing Inquisitorial investigation.

What emerged from the storm was not the Leviathan strain as previously catalogued.

Aurora bioforms display anomalous behavioural patterns: a marked interest in sites of religious significance, where their lairs are frequently established.
